A costly, disappointing experience with Mills Oakley Brisbane — left worse off and without progress.
KARMA - Has a Universal application of Justice
As a disabled veteran, I had sought assistance based on a family recommendation. Unfortunately, my experience left me disappointed, misrepresentated and ultimately failed in the pursuit of natural justice, equity and fairness.
I retained Mills Oakley Brisbane, on the 17th September 2025 and quickly found the experience unsatisfactory. Communication was poor, with updates only provided when I chased them, even at my own expense. I was billed for repeated corrections to documents I had largely prepared myself, and for calls I initiated to obtain basic information. Their invoices lacked transparency, and a “discount” was only offered if I paid in full within seven days. As a disabled veteran, I expected support and professionalism, but instead I was left worse off financially and without meaningful progress. Based on my experience, I did not feel that the firm provided clear communication, verified details of cost breakdowns, or a strategic plan for my case. I ultimately chose to close my matter with them, as I felt the process left me worse off financially and without improved outcomes.
Additionally, Mills Oakley did not provide me with a remittance advice for payment completed as requested, and failed to forward my client file in full until I had to follow up nearly a month after my account was finalised. This delay was unacceptable and reinforced my concerns about their diligence.
Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend Mills Oakley Brisbane to others in the veteran community or more broadly.
